Around Mauna Kea, trip completed

| Today I decided to attempt to complete the trip around Mauna Kea on Keanakolu Road that I started on 1/8 and ended up getting stuck. This time it wasn't all cloudy and rainy but a very nice sunny day which, as you'll see, presented it's own problems. I started rather late, reaching the beginning of Keanakolu Road at around 3:30 in the afternoon which didn't allow much time to make the, as it turned out, 46-mile trip. It ended up taking me 4 hours to make the journey which averages out to 11.5 mph. First gear almost all the way... CLICK IMAGES TO ENLARGE |

| Driving up to Mauna Kea Road, I took these shots just to show how nice and sunny it was. I expected to find clouds once I got up to the higher elevations. Remember, Keanakolu Road is about a mile high. |

| This is after where I got stuck before. I'm on new ground. Looks nice, but the soil is damp and slippery and soft. |
| [Bad Shit] The ruts got deeper and muddier. There were big puddles of indeterminate depth and it was frighteningly slippery and mucky. It was white-knuckle driving and I didn't get any pictures of the worst of it because I was busy! |
| As I got around the north side of Mauna Kea and was heading west, the view was quite beautiful, looking down on the clouds! There was only one small problem: the sun was going down right in my eyes and I couldn't see! |
